A sunny day in Langstrath. The bracken is 30cm high and gives off its distinctive smell. The valley floor is thick with cotton grass and the insectivorous sundew. Yellow tormentil and pink foxgloves add a few dots of colour along the way. Skylarks, wheatears and now a huge number of small coppers (butterflies, not 5' policemen) flit around in the warmth. The black Herdwick lambs are getting bigger and more adventurous as they range further from their mothers. All in all, a day that makes you glad to be alive, even if it is a Monday.
